The island nation of Haiti is reeling from the impact of a 7.0-magnitude earthquake that struck shortly before 5 PM EST on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. The capital city of Port au Prince is nearly demolished.

Peacemakers, in partnership with organizations including, Friend Ships, Miami Rescue Mission, Trinity Broadcasting Network's Smile of a Child, Trinity Church, and Mission of Hope, is collecting, shipping, delivering and distributing relief supplies in Haiti. Situated in Miami, the major American port city nearest to Haiti, and with a long history of aid to Haiti, Peacemakers is uniquely qualified to assist in the delivery of aid to this wounded country.

The Peace for Haiti Earthquake Relief humanitarian effort is the perfect collaboration of several organizations coming to the urgent aid of the tragedy-stricken island. The warehouses and trucks are being donated by the Miami Rescue Mission, Miami Dade County's - Port of Miami has waived the port and docking fees and Friend Ships will donate the transportation services of a 5,000-ton vessel, "Integrity" to deliver food, water, shelter materials, and medical supplies in various trips to the Island. This ship will additionally carry several mobile medical "Super Clinics", a helicopter to assist our Peace for Haiti Earthquake Relief operations and will serve as carrier to transport the personnel needed in various rescue operations and medical capacities. Mission of Hope and other Haitian charities will be the recipient distribution centers for all Haitians in need within their reach.

Through Mission of Hope, we are already on the ground in Haiti. This Christian organization has a 76 acre facility north of Port au Prince. It operates the Church of Hope, School of Hope, the Hope House Orphanage, the Feed A Child program and the Hospital of Hope. Mission of Hope provides food and clean water to tens of thousands of people every day.

Haiti has a deep need for material assistance in the form of medicine, food, clothing, and shelter. They also need medical personnel and skilled workers of every type. Peacemakers and its partners are sending people and goods to Haiti on a continuous basis. "The immediate impact of the tragedy is newsworthy but the long-term effects will not end when the cameras move on. We have been committed and involved with the Haitian Community for over 12 years. This will be a prolonged mission, and we're in this for the long haul. We welcome your help." said Pastor Rich Wilkerson, founder of Peacemakers and Senior Pastor of Trinity Church.

The ultimate mission is to call on the local, national and international communities to help with cash donations and with the specific list of supplies needed for the near and long term. This commitment requires a substantial amount of diesel fuel for the trips and resources needed to provide Haiti and its people the opportunity, not only to survive this crisis, but to rebuild their country.

Our urgent message during this crisis can be summed up in three words: PRAY, GIVE, and GO!
