 In
June Peacemakers committed to help Alix Delva receive the medical care
and extensive surgery necessary to provide him relief from the massive
tumors that covered his face, forced him to live in a constant state of
severe pain and limited his eyesight and ability to eat. Left untreated, the tumors would have eventually constricted Alix's airways and suffocated him.
Dr. Jesus Gomez, Assistant professor of Clinical Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, agreed to perform Alix's operation.
Dr. Gomez previously removed a 17 pound facial
tumor from 14 year old Marlie Casseus with great success and offered to
operate on Delva free of charge.
Even with this kind gesture taken into consideration, hospital bills totaled $33,000. We
stepped out in faith and wrote a check to Jackson Memorial Hospital for
the total bill, largely from our own funds, to cover Alix's procedure.
The generous donations we've received to date have only covered a portion of the hospital costs.

tumors now cover his face limiting his eyesight and ability to eat.
The most recent update is that doctors now say that if Alix does not
receive immediate surgery his life will be threatened by the tumors.

Alix Delva has a dream.
This dream is not to gain success or wealth. Alix dreams of the day he will be able to go anywhere without the obvious stares of strangers. When he will be able to eat in public and without the assistance of others. When the searing pain throughout his head will stop and he can once again return to the workforce to provide for his four children...
